Artwork Guidelines
ResourcesGuidelines
File Formats
- Preferred Formats: Vector files are preferred for both screen-printing and embroidery. Acceptable formats include AI (Adobe Illustrator), EPS, PDF, and SVG.
- Raster Files: Acceptable for screen-printing if high-resolution (300 dpi at actual print size). For embroidery, raster files are not suitable unless they are used as a reference alongside a vector file.
Resolution
- For raster files (JPEG, PNG), ensure a minimum resolution of 300 dpi at actual print size for screen-printing.
- Embroidery files should be vector-based to ensure scalability without loss of quality.
Color Mode
- Screen-Printing: Artwork should be provided in CMYK or Pantone (PMS) colors to ensure color accuracy.
- Embroidery: Typically uses Pantone (PMS) colors. Specify color codes to match branding accurately.
Fonts
- Convert all text to outlines (vector) or provide the font files used in the artwork. This ensures text appears as intended even if the font is not available on the production system.
Design Specifications
- Clearly indicate the dimensions of the design. Include height and width measurements.
- Specify placement on the garment or item (e.g., front, back, sleeve).
Complexity and Detail
- Simplify complex designs where possible, especially for embroidery, to ensure clarity and avoid excessive stitch counts.
Mockups and Proofs
- Provide mockups or proofs of the design whenever possible. This helps in visualizing how the design will look on the final product.
Copyright and Licensing
- Ensure that you have the right to reproduce any artwork provided. Customers should either own the rights to the artwork or have obtained necessary permissions.
Additional Tips
- Avoid gradients and very fine details for screen-printing, as they may not reproduce well.
- For embroidery, avoid very small text and intricate details that may not translate well to stitching.
Communication
- Maintain clear communication with customers regarding their artwork requirements and any adjustments needed for production feasibility.
Acceptable File Delivery Methods
- Use secure file transfer methods or dedicated upload portals to ensure artwork files are delivered securely and promptly.
By implementing these guidelines, you can streamline the artwork submission process and ensure that the designs provided are suitable for high-quality screen-printing and embroidery. These guidelines will also help in minimizing revisions and ensuring customer satisfaction with the final products
